Back to school …

When I first met Sophia to talk wedding flowers with her wedding planner, Andri Benson from Always Andri, it was clear from the outset that this wasn’t going to be a quiet little wedding with subtle touches and delicate florals. Sophia has to be my most direct and decisive bride from 2013 – she even managed to convince – if that is the right word – her wedding guests to only wear colours that would complement the wedding theme of orange and purple – amazing but true!! I think her wedding to the wonderful Oskar was one of my faves of the year and will stick in my mind for a long time

Dulwich College is a stunning venue for a wedding as these shots from the wonderful Lucy at My Heart Skipped show. The Great Hall is just awesome, its vaulted ceiling seemingly miles away and Sophia and Oskar, guided by the lovely Andri, opted for a single but very, very long table in the centre of this room

We dressed the table with bright ribbons and about a hundred vases from mini fishbowls with single bright orange Maryo Roses and purple Vanda Orchids to goodness gracious, great balls of fiery Dahlias, Hydrangea, Celosia, Orchids and more Roses perched on tall clear vases above the guests’ heads

Sophia’s trailing bouquet of mango Callas, purple Hydrangea and Roses was echoed by a mini-me bouquet carried by her daughter Elizabeth whilst her twin brother Teddy proudly wore a gold Singapore Orchid buttonhole like the big boys

Rounding off the decoration was a gorgeous Ombre cake which we covered with co-ordinating purple and gold Orchid heads

All in all, a great venue, great bride and groom, great planning and, I have to say, great flowers .. perhaps school’s not so bad after all!

Dartmouth House wedding venue

One of my most favourite places to flower for a wedding is the wonderful Dartmouth House.. set in the heart of Mayfair, it has a lovely history and is currently the home of the English Speaking Union. But it is also a truly fabulous venue in which to get married
