It is surprising difficult to write about oneself …. everything smacks of sounding smug! So in light of that, please take it that I’m not… smug, that is! I pitched up in the world of flowers following a long career in magazines. After 15 or so years of creating advertisements and promotions for various clients on such titles as Elle Decoration, Country Homes and Interiors and, lastly, The World of Interiors, I decided that enough was enough and I needed to do something to satisfy the creative urge that was gradually building up
So I spent a lovely couple of years working alongside Stephen Woodhams, a fabulous florist and garden designer looking after merchandising for his brand but also picking up tips and invaluable lessons along the way
When we parted company, I set up on my own and, as they say, the rest is history … 17 years on and I’m still loving it, learning and challenging myself every day. Whilst I love all kinds of flowers – apart from yellow ones if truth be told – I especially love working on weddings, meeting couples, discussing their ideas and dreams and then bringing them to life. I don’t think there is anything more wonderful than seeing the smile on a bride’s face on the morning of her wedding as you take in her bouquet … in many cases this is accompanied by some kind of high pitched squeal – just brilliant!
