Summer Sun in London

julie michaelsen wedding flowers blue sky flowers photo Miss GenI don’t know how it happens but I always seem to have a wedding on my birthday…. well September is a popular month and I’ve had enough birthdays to now worry about it now I guess but this one was even more special as it was the wedding of my lovely wedding friend and a-ma-zing photographer Julie Michaelsen and her beau Ross Haley

Julie and Ross were planning to have their main wedding celebration in Italy later in the month but decided to have a London based civil wedding and party for friends and family based here. Read more here

Flowered Hens in Islington!

Yesterday, I had so much fun hosting a floral workshop for Cat and her lovely group of hens who had organised a surprise day for her in advance of her wedding this coming August

Up at our usual workshop home of The Blacksmith and The Toffeemaker, we were treated to in-house home baked cake and brownies plus a plethora of other cake bought and brought by the hens… washed down with some Prosecco of course!

If you are getting married, or perhaps helping to organise the hen party for someone who is, then why not try a floral workshop? We can make floral crowns, bouquets, vase arrangements, supply cake and refreshments – plus booze as required – and make sure you have a fun time. Just look at what the girls made yesterday

If you are interested please email with an enquiry and we can go from there x

PS – just received this fab email from The Hen’s sister who organised the whole event ….

Hi Liz

Just a quick email to say a huge thank you for the fab workshop on Saturday for Cat’s hen

It was totally awesome, we loved every minute and it really got the day off to a fab start

All the little details, the flowers, the bags to take the flowers away and the mini cactuses were fantastic

Thank you so much!

Alice x

Hoppy Easter!

Since everything this weekend will be about bunnies and buns (of the hot cross variety), chicks and chox, I wanted to revisit a beautiful shoot from last Spring that first appeared on bloved Little B … but it is just too cute not to revisit!

With the invaluable styling help of Laura from Holden Bespoke, photographer Kate Nielen and I brought together a group of wonderful suppliers to bring our Beatrix Potter inspired Easter tea party to life. There are bunny signs, bunny ears, bunny plates, bunny eggs … oh no I’m getting carried away now!

The ladies at Eagle Eyed Bride who clearly can turn their hands to much more than beautiful wedding stationery, jumped to the challenge and created a fabulous suite of Peter Rabbit-esque invitations, menus, place names… even a pin-the-tail-on-the-bunny!

With mountains of scrummy fluffy bunny-tail inspired marshmallows, very grown up macarons and little pastel chocolate hearts from Anges de Sucre together with a chocolate mini-egg topped cake, who needs sandwiches!

If you’ve read this far and are still interested in anything other than food, you might like to know that I chose some beautifully fragrant flowers for our table – lilac, paperwhite narcissi, tulips, guelder and some British grown super smelly roses … all in pastel ceramic pots to match the food, of course!

Who wouldn’t want to be sitting at this table with all these goodies on display? I wish you all happy hunting this lovely Easter weekend x
