Flowered Hens in Islington!

Yesterday, I had so much fun hosting a floral workshop for Cat and her lovely group of hens who had organised a surprise day for her in advance of her wedding this coming August

Up at our usual workshop home of The Blacksmith and The Toffeemaker, we were treated to in-house home baked cake and brownies plus a plethora of other cake bought and brought by the hens… washed down with some Prosecco of course!

If you are getting married, or perhaps helping to organise the hen party for someone who is, then why not try a floral workshop? We can make floral crowns, bouquets, vase arrangements, supply cake and refreshments – plus booze as required – and make sure you have a fun time. Just look at what the girls made yesterday

If you are interested please email with an enquiry and we can go from there x

PS – just received this fab email from The Hen’s sister who organised the whole event ….

Hi Liz

Just a quick email to say a huge thank you for the fab workshop on Saturday for Cat’s hen

It was totally awesome, we loved every minute and it really got the day off to a fab start

All the little details, the flowers, the bags to take the flowers away and the mini cactuses were fantastic

Thank you so much!

RSA wedding

Here is a little more on what we got up to that first crazy weekend of December … a fabulously stylish, lush and oh so beautiful wedding at the lovely RSA House just off The Strand in central London

This wedding was master-minded – which is the only way I can describe it – by the ace that is Katrina Otter. From our first meeting, through to meeting the gorgeous couple themselves – trio actually, if you count little munchkin George – and onto the day itself, we were absolutely in the best pair of planning hands x

Our lovely bride Annie was very clear on the look that she wanted, fresh whites and greens, not Christmassy but lush and seasonal … Once we’d visited the flower market for our usual sourcing session she had added in a touch of blush to warm up the whites and we loved it all – from her ‘neatly-wild’ bouquet comprising Anemones,  Freesia, Paperwhite Narcissi, Avalanche and White O’Hara Roses complemented by Pistachio and Eucalyptus foliage and trailing Kate Cullen silk ribbons to the 60ft table filled with mercury silver vases of fragrant, seasonal, crisp flowers – and loved working on the wedding

Oh and the hanging curtain of O’Hara and Sweet Avalanche Roses and Avignon Mums strung on organza ribbons that dressed the window behind the ceremony was a particular favourite … and I think may just feature in a few more weddings in 2016!

We were on hand later in the day to move flowers from the ceremony space down to the vaults for the evening reception and make sure that everything was perfect before we left – which of course meant that we were there to see the fabulous confetti throwing episode outside

Being a black tie event this meant the guests all looked amazing, from the feather trimmed Mother of the Groom’s dress through to the littlest best man, 1 year old George, in his perfect mini-me tux!

But I think one of the best images is Annie together with her cute flower girls in their sequin and organza dresses with co-ordinately sequin trimmed posies … a lovely day!

Take a letter, Miss Jones…..

Early last July saw us on one of our busiest weekends of the summer with events going on in Westminster, the West End and the City! Three very different weddings and three very different venues – Part One is a fabulous ceremony and reception at St Etheldreda’s in Ely Place and the amazing Stationers’ Hall.

Andri Benson of Always Andri Wedding Design introduced me to the bride only a matter of 6 weeks or so before the wedding but such a clear idea did they both have of the look and colour they wanted that it made my life much easier! Pale lilac, soft pink and creamy ivories were the mainstay of the flower palette supported by the silvery grey hues of Eucalyptus and Senecio foliage. Read more in our blog here
