Go big or go home …

That’s what I took out of the wedding I did last Friday anyway! What started as a gentle, smallish wedding grew a little larger a couple of weeks’ ago when lovely bride Katrina and her glamorous mum Elena came back down to our flower market studio to finalise the flowers

fragrant rose bouquetKatrina’s bouquet had to work very hard to keep up with her stunning dove grey organza Vera Wang dress. So I teamed  selection of amazing roses – fragrant White Ohara (my current big fave rose), beautifully soft pink Prince Jardinaire – that smelt of heaven and lemon scented Norma Jean – plus some asparagus fern, gyp and a little Jasmine …. as if it didn’t smell amazing enough!

It was traily and wispey and delicate and gorgeous –  I can’t wait to see the pro shots of all of this wedding but here are a few sneaky shots

Katrina had originally not wanted anything large in the ceremony room, but the Reading and Writing Room at One Whitehall is so stunning with its pillars, murals and views over the River Thames, that you really need to have something of a statement in there

So flashback to another wedding in the same room last Spring where we created some extra large urn displays with a truck load of faux blossom….Katrina saw the photo and said ‘that’s it’Ceremony set up

We updated the design to make it unique for Katrina and Ben and a touch more seasonal by adding in Wisteria, large headed Secret Garden roses and birch foliage with trailing asparagus fern

For the tables we came down in scale a little with simple delicate rings of Gyp round tall silver candelabra surrounded by bud vases containing white and blush pink Bombastic roses and tea lights

The smell of sugar and icing as I came out of the lift was almost enough to floor me

All we could do was admire … and make a 4ft gyp and fern garland to surround it!

London calling …!!

With all the sun this week, I couldn’t resist a bit of a flashback to a lovely summer wedding at London Zoo this very weekend just two years ago..!

Whenever we are working at the Zoo, I’m always hopeful that one of the giraffes or perhaps a penguin will put a head around the door to see what’s going on … it hasn’t happened yet, but in this wedding, one of our long-necked friends did get in on the act for a close up once the photographer started clicking – I had no idea my buttonholes were so tasty!

Joanna first came to me a few months before her wedding to Becca with some very fixed ideas about what she wanted … very soft, gentle colours and a super-relaxed feel to the whole occasion, and we were very happy to go along with that

These photos from Evelyne and Sue at In the Pink Photography are lovely and really capture the mood and the fun everyone had and show off the excitement the girls felt on their special day

Now that’s what you call jumping for joy! x

Not The Dorchester again!!

Yep, we were back at this stunning hotel at the end of March with Kelly and Nick helping to make a lovely bride’s special day even lovelier!

Kelly was keen to have very clean, crisp flower displays and since the Ceremony and Reception were being held in the same room, we designed arrangements that could be used around the Altar and Registrar’s Table and then go onto the Reception Tables in the evening

A combination of tall silver candelabra with balls of ivory Hydrangea, Roses, Stock, Lisianthus and dark green berried Ivy and elegant glass cake stands with a similar mix of flowers complemented the subtle decor in The Orchid Room beautifully and the pale wood Chivari chairs were simply the only possible finishing touch to which we added delicate posies of fluffy Gyp tied with cappuccino ribbons to match the Bridesmaids’ flowers

This is such a wonderful room and really needs very little to make it look superb but we were pleased with the overall look and know from the look on Kelly’s face that she was too…

Liz was brilliant from start to finish and her flowers are absolutely stunning!! I had an idea of how things would look but in reality the arrangements completely blew us away!

My husband and I didn’t have a lot of experience with flowers and Liz was so helpful working closely with us (even visiting the venue) to create the perfect arrangements at such a reasonable cost – we couldn’t have asked for more, they were completely beautiful and we received so many compliments! Kelly and Nick March 2013
